James 1:27....

Did you know that November is Adoption Awareness Month here in the U.S.?

While all forms of adoption are special, Foster Care Adoption is particularly near and dear to my heart because that is the path God chose to make me a mother. Every child deserves a family, not just babies.

I have read that over 3,000 children in my not-so-large state ALONE are in foster care. While we did not foster before we adopted, I am privileged to know some special families that do foster with intentions to adopt, such as her and her. Is it easy? No. But few things truly worth it are.

Of course, I don't suppose everyone can run out and adopt a child from foster care. Personally, I view it as a calling. But I think many more people are called than want to actually do it (i.e. many are called but few are willing). But if you aren't called to adopt, you can still help. Invest in an adoptive family. There are many ways that you can help. Most of us are weary and there are often needs in adoptive families that are difficult to meet. Be supportive in what ever way you can. One of my favorite scriptures is found in the book of James and it tells us "to look after orphans and widows in their distress".

Spread the word. There are children out there who desperately want a home.

Hi Angie
Thanks for sharing this today. It's interesting how different things are in England. We do not have foster to adopt. You either do one or the other. Maybe more people would foster if they had the option to then adopt.
Have a lovely weekend.

I think it was you last year linking us to an adoption site in your state, and I was flawed. I could not get over the number of children needing homes and care, and that was just in one state!!! I went through the site, reading about the children, and praying they would all receive care soon. I wonder now how many did. Wouldn't you just love Aunt March to leave her big house to us (all!!!) and fill it with children that need loving care and education and a comfy bed with a prayer to go to sleep on. I often think about getting 2 sets of bunk beds and putting them in my boys' room, putting together my cots again, and sticking them in any available corners of a bedroom to make room for children of any age... my H is not able to at this point in time, but I pray that he will be one day soon... I see it as a definite calling, and I am willing... just got to get the 'able' bit happening!!! Thanks for sharing this... N x

Naomi....pray, pray, pray about it, and you might be surprise how the Lord will lead your H in that direction. My hubby wasn't on board either, and we started our journey about 2 yrs ago, and just got word last week that we can move to adopt our precious little boy that has been with us over a year!

It is not easy....but it is so worth every single minute of frustration and heartache. I can't even imagine our family without our 2 little boys now. I love them so much!

I just did a photo shoot Friday for just our county and took pictures of 48 kids, and our list had 65 on it. That is 65 kids to add to the 50+ we already had that need to be adopted, and that is just in Pulaski county! I left that day so heavy hearted for these children.

Angie, you know I smile everytime I look at photos of your family. I absolutely love that you adopted 5 children out of foster care...You all have been such a blessing for each other!
